Entwined Green Plum Blossoms

Sui Yuan has a childhood friend who grew up alongside her. Ever since she can remember, Zhou Qingye has always been there in her life.

When she had a high fever late one night as a child, Zhou Qingye carried her through the pouring rain, step by step, all the way to the clinic.

When she got her first period, Zhou Qingye blushed as he went to the school store to buy her sanitary pads.

If she overlooks that sharp tongue of his, always picking fights with her, Sui Yuan thinks Zhou Qingye is at least a passable childhood friend.

In their senior year of high school, a new boy transfers into their class. His cool, handsome looks quickly make him a hot topic among the girls.

Sui Yuan is no exception.

On their walks home after school, the transfer student's name comes up more and more often.

Sui Yuan doesn't notice the inscrutable look in Zhou Qingye's eyes beside her.

On the day of their coming-of-age ceremony, Sui Yuan invites her classmates over to celebrate her birthday.

She drinks a little to work up her courage, then mysteriously tells Zhou Qingye that she's going to confess to someone today.

As she steps out of her room with a love letter in hand, a powerful tug at her waist pulls her back.

Zhou Qingye pins her beneath him, bites the corner of her mouth, and threatens her in a low, hoarse voice: "Sui Yuan, take back that love letter."

One day after their wedding, Zhou Qingye finds an old love letter at home.

Seeing his own name on the page, he asks smugly, "You liked me but were too scared to say it? When did you write this?"

Sui Yuan folds her arms and leans against the doorway, giving him a cold smile. "On my eighteenth birthday."
