The Bookworm Ran Away, but the Obsessive Empress Caught Her

The bookish Ruan Zhiyun wakes up in the body of a lazy, gluttonous farm girl who is destined to be a disposable villain. Not only does she inherit the girl's memories, she also learns what will happen in the future.

In those memories, she abducts Liu Yulan, a disabled young woman who happened to be passing by, and locks her in a thatched hut, forcing her to be her wife. When Liu Yulan refuses, the original owner beats her in every way imaginable. In the end, Liu Yulan carves her into pieces, one knife at a time.

Ruan Zhiyun looks at Liu Yulan, whose clothes barely cover her, whose beautiful eyes are filled with tears, and who glares at her with hatred: QAQ

Can she still fix this somehow?

She hasn't even finished her books yet.

Ruan Zhiyun wants to get away from the dangerous Liu Yulan as soon as possible, leave for the capital, and prepare for the civil service exams.

But when she sees the girl's slender, pale legs, unable to walk, she lets out a sigh. In this era, a person with crippled legs has no real chance of survival, even if they get out.

Ruan Zhiyun thinks: Maybe I should heal Liu Yulan's injuries before I leave.

So when Liu Yulan shivers in the freezing thatched hut in winter, her body covered in sores, Ruan Zhiyun goes hunting and sews her some thick clothes.

When Liu Yulan's stomach condition flares up, Ruan Zhiyun reads by night while cooking her porridge and soup.

When Liu Yulan needs expensive ointment for her legs, Ruan Zhiyun earns money by writing poems and names for people on the street, then uses it to buy her medicine.

The day Liu Yulan's legs heal, Ruan Zhiyun, greatly relieved, slips away faster than a rabbit.

She leaves all her possessions to Liu Yulan and heads to the capital alone, carrying a small bundle and a few copper coins, chasing her dream: She will become the top scholar and bring prosperity to the people!

When Ruan Zhiyun makes it to the palace examination, she looks up and locks eyes with the young emperor, who is staring coldly at her from the throne.

Ruan Zhiyun: OoO

What is Liu Yulan doing here?

Later, commotion is often heard from the emperor's chambers.

The young emperor pins the newly appointed chancellor beneath her.

The chancellor's lips are swollen from the emperor's kisses. Tears fill her eyes, but she still tries to speak seriously. "I believe..."

Liu Yulan bites her lip. "Bookworm, pay attention when we're kissing."
