Bankruptcy Liquidation: I Bought the Real World by Losing Money

The first thing Wang Xihao did after being reborn was transfer a million yuan to his parents. The System warned: [Emotional investment counts as profit. Seventy-two hours of lifespan deducted.] He nearly died all over again on the spot. This was a world where you had to lose money to stay alive. Your daily minimum loss started at one million; fail to spend it all, and you lost double the lifespan. But if your losses made you famous, the attention could be monetized as profit, and you’d drop dead all the same. Tipping streamers and buying luxury cars and mansions were just the basics. A true master of loss had to learn to buy the time until sunset, acquire other people’s forgotten memories, and purchase the past in which he had met a gruesome death. Wang Xihao used to be an investment banker, fluent in the logic of capital. Now he was the biggest virus in the capitalist world. The CEO of Guiyuan Capital chose to make money and buy immortality; Wang Xihao chose to lose money and buy freedom. When everyone had been conditioned by algorithms to become data laborers, and every second of attention was being harvested by the upper narrative layer, only meaningless losses could crack the world’s underlying code. He established “legal waste zones” where time didn’t count toward GDP. He bought up “time debts,” helping terminally ill patients borrow time from the Grim Reaper. He even shorted his own publicly traded company, then blew himself up publicly when its stock price peaked. “Attention from the narrative layer detected. Satisfaction at 87%. Preparing to enter the next narrative phase.” It turned out they were all contestants in a talent show for higher-dimensional beings. And Wang Xihao’s ultimate goal was to spend all his reality value and buy the real world. In this virtual proving ground where everything had a price, only voluntary loss could prove that we were human. Losing money was the highest form of freedom.
