Ink Nightmare Library: The Author Descends

Wu Teng, a middle-aged author, falls into a coma after a brain hemorrhage. His consciousness plunges into the “Myriad Worlds Library,” formed from the twenty books he wrote. Twenty manuscript lamps float there, each one a world he once created. But his regrets about his writing, unresolved plot holes, and deep-seated fear of “never finishing” have gathered into a black corruption called the “Ink Nightmare,” twisting happy endings in his books into endless cycles of despair. As the original author, Wu Teng has three abilities: “Master Outline Vision,” which lets him see the truth behind a character's established traits; “Foreshadowing Recovery,” which activates hidden clues; and “Cross-Book Summoning,” which calls characters from other worlds to help him. Entering his own books as the “Author,” he doesn't seize opportunities for himself. Instead, he makes up for the regrets that once kept him awake at night: saving characters who deserved happy endings from tragic deaths, preventing systems that should have endured from becoming corrupt, and ensuring open endings don't turn into cages of despair. From the bustling human world to the primordial past, from System rules to the fate of life, he repairs all twenty manuscript lamps along the way, forging them into the “Myriad Worlds Pen.” At last, the protagonists of all twenty worlds gather across worlds to face the ultimate inner demon, the “God of Unfinished Stories,” born from the fear of leaving a story unfinished. As the Ink Nightmare crumbles into patterns on the lampstands, Wu Teng opens his eyes in the real world and types the first line of a new manuscript. This self-rescue through transmigrating into his own books is the very subject of his twenty-second work.
