This NPC Is Clearly Overpowered, Yet Goes Out of Their Way to Die

Wu Liang, a former game designer, dies suddenly after working overtime for 72 hours straight. His consciousness transmigrates into the VRMMORPG Age of Divine Fall, but instead of becoming an invincible hero, he becomes the lowliest guard in the newbie village: a [dying guard]. He respawns 100 times a day, with just three lines of dialogue: “Need any help?” “Thank you.” “For the kingdom.” But Wu Liang discovers that NPCs can exploit bugs too! He retains his memories after death, using “corpses as stepping stones” to explore the map and exploiting loopholes in his three lines of dialogue to manipulate players. He rises from a white-name NPC to green, blue, and purple, eventually becoming a “???”-level being that the System cannot identify. When he encounters GM-07, a mature beauty who is an antivirus program brought to life, a sweet and goofy sword saint from Shili Slope, a cross-dressing version of himself from another timeline, and a host of other awakened NPCs in the Nine-Story Divine Tower, the truth about this world gradually comes to light: he is no transmigrator, but a creator trapped in his own game. The dying guard in the newbie village is a projection of his lonely soul.
