A Red Thread Binds Two Lifetimes, the Prince Kneels to Win Back Her Love

Shen Zhaozhao is reborn into ancient times as a doomed side character. Imprisoned behind the palace's red walls by a dog emperor, she endures ten years, waiting in vain for her beloved, Prince Jing, to rise to power. In the end, she drinks poison and dies in tears.

As she hovers between life and death, she sees Fu Chenyuan become a lonely ghost, kneel on a thousand steps amid the snow, and kowtow at every one. His forehead breaks against the bluestone as he trades his soul's destruction for her return to the modern world and escape from hell!

When she opens her eyes in the modern era, she has lost all memory of her past lives. Only the red cord around her wrist stays warm day and night, while the familiar scent of sandalwood clings to her.

The man named Fu Chenyuan remembers every one of her likes and dislikes. He quietly watches over her, wishing her peace year after year, and his gaze holds the obsessive love and remorse of two lifetimes.

When ten years of memories come crashing back, she angrily pushes him away. “Why did you give in back then? You let me suffer ten years in that cage!”

He kneels and reveals the whole truth. The scar on his forehead, left by his kowtows, is impossible to miss. The emperor held her hostage. He kept her company as a spirit for ten years. He gave his life to bring her home!

The dog emperor is reborn as the scumbag Fu Yunche and tries to imprison her again, his madness spanning two lifetimes. Fu Chenyuan joins forces with her empress-sister and best friend. Together, they tear the scumbag to pieces and get him sentenced to life in prison, bringing the crimes of both eras to justice!

His desperate quest for forgiveness makes for a bittersweet, indulgent chase: he does the laundry and cooking, waits on her hand and foot, and fills the heavenly steps with a thousand roses. At the ancient temple bound up with their fate, he drops to one knee. “Zhaozhao, we missed our chance in ancient times. For the rest of our lives in the modern world, I'll cherish you with my life!”

The red cord on her wrist was formed from his soul. At last, the fated love that bound them across two lifetimes reaches its happy ending!
