A Stream Beneath the Warm Sun

Lin Xi’s childhood was made up of bowl after bowl of hot meals from the neighbor, Grandma Zhang, and countless dusks spent walking home alone. She thought she was a weed no one cared about, until a bankbook hidden away for years revealed the secret of her birth on her eighteenth birthday. The “kindly” Grandma Zhang was actually a relative she had never met, and all the warmth she had known came from the devoted protection of a deceased elder. From an overlooked child in a divorced family, to a top university student carrying her grandparents’ hopes, and then to a rising star in the workplace, Lin Xi turned her resilience and kindness into a powerful force. When the family who had abandoned her returned with ulterior motives, and underhanded attacks came at her from work, she was no longer the little girl who could only eat quietly beneath the eaves. This time, she would protect her own sunshine.
