Reborn, I Dumped Qianlong and Fled with the Guard

Wei Yanwan was once a highly regarded lady-in-waiting at court, but a carefully engineered frame-up sent her tumbling from the heights into prison, where she was banished to a freezing wasteland to await death. In her darkest hour, a mysterious note becomes her only chance at survival, guiding her onto a perilous escape route where death lurks at every turn.

Ling Yunche, a young general descended from a line of renowned commanders, is ambushed under suspicious circumstances on the battlefield in southern Yunnan. Gravely wounded and near death, he is branded a traitor for “hoarding troops for personal gain.” As he struggles to survive, he discovers that both his father’s death in battle and the attack on him are connected to the Purple Flame Swallow Pendant, a symbol of supreme imperial authority.

The gears of fate mesh once more in the darkness. Wei Yanwan, fleeing for her life, and Ling Yunche, searching for the truth, unexpectedly meet again aboard a privateer ship concealing weapons and secrets. From the palace to the martial world, from the powerful to the pirates, a vast web of conspiracy slowly emerges. The mastermind is none other than the emperor’s own younger brother, Prince He, Hongzhou! He frames loyal officials, poisons princes, and plots to seize the throne. Wei Yanwan and Ling Yunche are merely two pawns in this game that must be eliminated.

With pursuers ahead and a trap behind them, they are forced to join forces and flee through the shadows of the empire. From wariness to trust, from using each other to falling deeply in love, the two broken souls find warmth in one another through one life-or-death trial after another, forging a bond that transcends death. They venture into the dragon’s lair to find hard evidence, vowing to carve a way through this cruel world, clear his father’s name, and reclaim their own!

But just as they finally obtain the evidence needed to bring down the great traitor and prepare to risk everything in the Golden Throne Hall, they discover that they have already been swept up in an even greater storm: a conspiracy to change the imperial succession.
