Xiao Lizhi's School Days

The story begins when she earns the nickname “Little Lychee” because of her round face. At first, she uses pack after pack of modeling clay as her “secret weapon” for facing this new world, launching a hilarious campaign of “modeling-clay diplomacy.” As she moves up through the grades, the modeling clay may eventually fade from the picture, but Little Lychee’s core approach to solving problems with creativity, kindness, and ever-growing courage never changes. Readers follow Little Lychee and her friends through the carefree innocence of elementary school, the restless energy of adolescence in middle school, and the pressure and hard work of high school. With humor and warmth, the story vividly depicts every aspect of campus life: innocent friendships, precious bonds between teachers and students, the lively antics of class, the first stirrings of young romance, “battles” with parents and the understanding that follows, and finally, the reflection and growth that come with facing life’s major choices.
