Axel's Concept Lock

Billionaire Julius spent a fortune commissioning a conceptual lock designed to seal away his capacity for compassion.

The locksmith, Axel, warned him: “Once it’s locked, it will be bound to your life.”

The tycoon scoffed. “Compassion is a shackle for the weak.”

The moment the lock’s core lodged in his heart, the world in his eyes lost all warmth.

He coolly fired a dying employee, ignored his critically ill wife, and turned his charitable foundation into a weapons investment fund.

After watching the tycoon rise and then crumble on the news, Axel decided to risk picking the lock.

As the hammer fell, the tycoon coldly watched the wave of suicides following the stock market crash outside his window.

The lock’s core shattered with a scream that rang through the heavens, and millions of suppressed pains poured into the tycoon’s heart.

For the first time, he felt compassion for the world, but only as he lay on the brink of death.

And at the bottom of the locksmith’s toolbox lay an old photograph covered in labels reading “Compassion.”
