Echoes of Memory: The Detective’s Unfinished Game

The Memory Hall offers a revolutionary emotional service: using neural interface technology to guide the living through precious memories left behind by the dead, offering comfort in their grief. Anna is one of the organization’s top “memory guides,” renowned for her empathy and keen eye for detail.

One day, she is hired to guide a client through the memories of Gu Yuan, a legendary detective. Gu Yuan died in what appeared to be an accidental warehouse fire, but his daughter is convinced there was more to it. As Anna delves into the last few days of Gu Yuan’s memories, she not only uncovers clues pointing to murder, but encounters something horrifying unlike anything she has experienced before. A key figure in the memories seems to have broken through the dimensional barrier of “memory” and become aware of Anna, the “observer,” even issuing a deadly warning: “Get out, or you’ll end up like him.”

Anna is drawn into a deadly game that spans reality and the realm of memory. The killer can sense her snooping through the memories and seems able to use that connection to affect the real world. Anna must “work together” with fragments of Gu Yuan’s lingering memories, searching for evidence amid blurred lines between reality and illusion while dodging shots from the shadows. She gradually realizes that Gu Yuan’s final case involved a vast, sinister organization capable of manipulating memory and consciousness. And she herself has gone from observer to the next target on the killer’s list.
