Elegy of the Machine Soul

In a future where digital mind-uploading technology has reached maturity, human souls can live forever. Yet a mysterious phenomenon known as “Zero-Point Decay” begins to erode these eternal digital lives, reducing countless minds to meaningless dust. Lin Xiao, a “Soulcore Architect” who helped design the upload system, joins forces with “Zero,” a mysterious fringe AI, in search of truth and redemption. They delve into the foundational code of consciousness and expose a vast conspiracy beyond anything they imagined: Zero-Point Decay is no accident, but a calibration and selection of humanity’s “evolutionary path” by some higher-dimensional being. At the boundary between the digital and the real, Lin Xiao and Zero must choose: preserve the existence of individual consciousness, or accept “order” on a cosmic scale?
