Lost in the Memory Mist

In the highly advanced city of Skydome, memory has become a commodity that can be extracted, edited, and even traded: “memory matter.” Ling Xiu is a top-tier “memory eraser.” His job is to remove painful memories for clients and give them a fresh start. He is used to the work, keeping his emotions completely separate from his clients through sheer reason and professionalism. But during what seems like a routine procedure, he extracts from a client’s memory matter a bloody murder memory that does not belong to them. Like a stone thrown into a still lake, this unfamiliar fragment draws him into a vortex of a carefully planned conspiracy. According to official records, the deceased died in an “accident,” but the memory reveals a victim of cold-blooded murder. To get to the truth, Ling Xiu must team up with Wei Wan, a low-level public security officer who is suspicious of him. As they venture deeper into this labyrinth built from memories, they discover a dark trade network beneath Skydome’s polished exterior, dealing in the theft of memories and the exchange of identities. And at the end of the trail, the truth seems to point toward Ling Xiu’s own sealed-away past. When memories can be altered, how can you prove that “you” are still “you”?
