In my opinion, novels can make for a better reading experience if they have the following qualities: 1. An original premise or opening: Readers have to spend mental effort getting familiar with a story’s setting, and a fresh idea makes that easier to overlook. 2. A basis in reality and a sense of immersion: Readers often find it hard to relate to a completely imaginary world, and some details may violate scientific principles. 3. Well-paced emotional highs and lows. 4. A strong beginning and end

Books I can generally get through. I only add books I’ve actually read. I don’t want to feel like the book is insulting my intelligence. I prefer lighthearted stories, games, urban fiction, ghosts, and novels about anime, manga, and entertainment. I’m done with stories that are nothing but fighting, leveling up, and repeating the same cycle forever. Pet-beast battles are fine, though. But don’t blame me if a book goes on hiatus or has a terrible ending. Take it up with the author. I’ll send a kn
