Chronicles of Ice and Fire: The Hero King’s Ruins

A thousand years after the fall of the Hero King, the seals on the rifts are growing weaker. A coup erupts in the Holy City. The powerful minister Greythor conspires with the Holy White Church, using a purge of heretics as a pretext to seize the throne. In a single night, the rightful Vilan royal family is overthrown. Seventeen-year-old Prince Leon Vilan narrowly escapes, carrying three dormant dragon eggs entrusted to him by his dying father, and begins his exile toward the northern ice wall.

The King of Endless Night drives ghouls south from the far north, while the miasma of corruption from the Abyssal Demon King spreads outward from underground rifts. Six warlords, each burdened by their own fate, struggle amid conflicting factions, beliefs, and bloodshed. The ancient seals left behind by the Hero King teeter ever closer to collapse as the fires of war rage on. The continent's lords each have their own designs, hidden pieces are at play in the royal court, and a traitor lies in wait within the Hidden Order. The false king and the church are not the only enemies. As Leon evades a continent-wide manhunt and struggles to master the power held within the three dragon eggs, he witnesses companions die in battle, allies betray him, and loved ones pass away forever. Only when the frost dragon hatches and the ceremony of ten thousand sacrifices begins in the Holy City do humanity's people realize that the usurpation of the throne was only the prelude to a catastrophe.

The continent is already on the brink of destruction. The only hope of resisting the twin dark powers of the Endless Night and the Abyss is a pact between the true royal bloodline and the ancient dragons. But this destiny of salvation demands that Leon personally endure endless sacrifice and suffering.
