Notary of the Old Days: Night Watch in the Steam Empire

Xia Luo is the most forgettable nobody at the Froston Notary Office.

His days are dull, mundane, and full of the ordinary comforts of life: mediating contract disputes, drafting property agreements, chewing tough black bread with coarse, gritty butter, and carefully stretching his meager wages to make ends meet.

The world outside has already descended into chaos.

The Imperial Arsenal roars through the night, while the front lines grind countless young bodies to pieces. The Bureau of Investigation considers itself humanity's guardian, and the soldiers dream that victory will bring the dawn.

Until indescribable horrors tear reality apart from the shadows,

and those closest to him, along with his companions, are pushed by the abyss toward a sacrifice they cannot escape.

"The supernatural is no glory bestowed by the gods, and war is not the only meat grinder."

"In this cold, grinding steam empire, the night is long. Someone has to uphold justice in the shadows."

Fairness, fairness, and goddamn fairness!
