A short quote from the fragmentary copy of "Strange Stories·Yun's Notes"
In the tenth year of the Republic of China, there was a wandering sorcerer who called himself "Yun Banxian". In his early years, he traveled to the banks of the Yangtze River, where he listened to travelers from the south and north talking about strange things in teahouses, restaurants, and ferry terminals, including ghosts, spirits, magic, alchemy, and witchcraft. Finally, he compiled it into a volume called "The Record of Strange Wen".
There are many characters in the book, including a blind master who exorcises ghosts and monsters, a corpse exorcist in western Hunan, a crazy woman who collects debts, an embalmer who sews his head in the middle of the night... Their acquaintances, or life-and-death acquaintances, are all recorded on paper. After the manuscript was completed, it went through several wars, was damaged by insects and water, and was in a state of ruin.
Under the overpass in Tianjin Nan City, there is a storyteller Cui Muye. In the 32nd year of the Republic of China, there was a flood in Tianjin. After the water receded, he picked up an oil-paper package at a coffin shop on Guayi Street and got half of a rotten book. The paper was swollen and the ink was blurry and white. He was so impressed after reading it that he adapted it into a storytelling script, added redundant details, divided it into sections, and named it "The Blind Man Sees Ghosts".
It's just that the manuscript is incomplete and Mr. Cui doesn't dare to vouch for whether the story is true or false.
Later, the storybook came to me and was lost. The boy is not talented and cannot reorganize it, so he can only do his best.
The title of the volume is: "When falsehood becomes true, truth is also false; there is nothing but nothingness."
Yun Banxian's side note: I have tried to ask people about this matter, and they have either called it true or false. I can neither prove its existence nor dare to prove its non-existence, so I record it for later enlightenment.
I have traveled all my life without a boat or a house.
Everything I saw was strange, and everything I recorded was commonplace.
If you ask about the truth, just read the words in the book.
Half are human words, half are ghosts.
"It's hard to explain what's going on, but let's hear... It will be explained next time!"
