A very good story about exotic animals, which makes people feel like they are real snakes, rather than people wearing snake skins.
Samei Rainforest Species File 001 "Night Dire Leopard"
The dire leopard (scientific name: Panthera umbrinus) is a large apex predator of the subfamily Panthera, order Carnivora, order Mammalia. Its genus name "Panthera" indicates its kinship with other members of the subfamily Panthera, and the species epithet "umbrinus" is derived from the Latin "umbra" (meaning "shadow" or "ghost"), derived from its stealthy and silent movement and dark body features. This species is the largest known cat in the Samui Rainforest and Lulu Shield areas of the Samui region of the Fourth World. It is also one of the top predators in this ecosystem and is known as the "Phantom of the Rainforest". Morphological Characteristics The Dire Leopard shows extreme sexual dimorphism and body weight differentiation that are extremely rare among cats. The male is significantly larger than the female. Size and weight: The body length of adult males (excluding tail) can reach 2.6–3.1 Meters, the tail length is 75–95 cm, the shoulder height is 1.1–1.3 Meters, the average weight is about 400 kg, and the largest individual record can reach 530 kg; the adult female body length is 2.2–2.7 Meters, the tail length is 65–85 cm, the shoulder height is 0.9–1.1 Meters, and the average weight is about 300 kg. This size makes the dire leopard far larger than the modern jaguar (Panthera onca, up to about 150 kilograms), and is similar in size to the extinct North American giant jaguar (Panthera onca augusta) and the Eurasian cave lion. It is a peak of existing body size in the history of cat evolution. Skull and canine teeth: The Dire Leopard has the largest proportion of canine teeth among cats. The upper canine teeth are up to 14–16 cm in length (from gingiva to apex), have a base transverse diameter of more than 4 cm, and are thick and conical in shape with sharp cutting ridges. Its bite force has been calculated through biomechanical modeling, and the bite force of the canine teeth can reach 1,500-1,800 kilograms of force (approximately 14.7-17.6 KN), and the bite force of the cleft teeth exceeds 2,000 kilograms of force. This extraordinary bite force gave it the ability to puncture-and-crush prey, enough to bite through the skull of pachyderm ungulates, the carapace of turtles, and the skull dome of black-armored crocodiles. Limbs and paw pads: The forelimbs are extremely thick, and the stoutness index (ratio of the cross-sectional area and length of the phalanges) of the humerus and radius is higher than that of any living cat. The most unique adaptive feature is its feet. The width of the forefoot can reach 18–22 cm (excluding toe pads), and the pad area is about three times that of the ordinary jaguar. There is a special elastic fiber and fat composite connective tissue layer developed under the skin of the palm pads, which can effectively absorb the vibration energy when the soles of the feet touch the ground. Combined with the dense wrinkles and microvilli structure on the surface of the foot pads, the dire leopard makes almost no footsteps when moving on the leaf litter and moist soil in the rainforest. In acoustic monitoring, its moving noise is less than 20 decibels, which is close to the lower limit of human hearing threshold. Coat color and markings: This species has a staged coat color expression mechanism based on age and social class. Puppies (0–12 months old) Grey-black undercoat with clearly visible rose-shaped markings, irregular arrangement, and darker edges. Subadult (1–4 years old) Dark gray-brown, the markings gradually fade, leaving only traces on the flanks and shoulders. Adult ordinary individuals (over 4 years old) Pure black (dark type) markings are completely hidden, and the outline of the basal spots can be vaguely observed under strong side light. The patriarch of the family (alpha male) Dark purple (sable variant) is covered with a unique purple-brown sheen, which will show a deep violet hue when exposed to sunlight. Habitat The night leopard is a strictly tropical rainforest obligate species, preferring virgin moist forests, flood forests and tropical swamp woodlands below 900 meters above sea level. The requirements for habitat integrity are extremely demanding. This species is different from most big cats. The dire leopard is highly adapted to the space from the canopy to the understory. It uses its wide paw pads and strong flexor muscles to have excellent climbing capabilities. It often ambush or track arboreal prey high in the canopy. However, its main hunting and movement routes are still dominated by forest animal trails and riverbank corridors. Distribution Range The distribution of the Dire Leopard is limited to the primeval forests of the Fourth World. Western boundary: Burning Light Mountains, Kayali River Basin Northern boundary: Upper Samai River, Luru Shield Eastern boundary: Eastern Samai rainforest, deep sea bay Southern boundary: Stormland This species is a typical resident animal and does not carry out long-distance seasonal migration, but daily patrol routes within the family territory may be as long as 30–50 kilometers per day. Social Structure and Living Habits The most unique biological feature of the Dire Leopard lies in its highly complex social organization. Family unit composition: A standard social unit of dire leopards (called "family" or "alliance group") usually consists of 5 pairs of adult spouses (i. E. 5 Males, 5 females, 10 individuals in total) forming a core group. The family members have a strict hierarchy, with a dark purple-haired patriarch (the alpha male) and his regular mate (the alpha female) at the top. Female group: Responsible for raising all cubs (cubs shared within the group), nest maintenance and early defense of the cubs. Females have a high degree of cooperative child-rearing behavior, and non-biological females will assist in suckling and guarding the young. Male groups: form a hunting alliance and go out to hunt collectively. There is close coordination among the males, usually 2-3 males are responsible for driving away the prey, 2 are responsible for outflanking and intercepting, and the leader (alpha male) usually delivers the fatal blow at the end. The large prey obtained by hunting is brought back to the nest by the male and shared in hierarchical order, but priority is given to pregnant and lactating females, followed by injured males. Territory: The territory of a single family can reach an area of 200-500 square kilometers. The boundaries are regularly patrolled by the males led by the clan leader, and the boundaries are declared through claw marks, feces piles and low-frequency roars. Adjacent parts of the territories of different families usually maintain a buffer zone of about 5-10 kilometers. Direct conflicts between groups are rare, but fierce fights can break out when they meet. Predation Strategy and Feeding Habits The Dire Leopard is the undisputed apex predator in the Samui Rainforest. There are no natural enemies in its distribution area except intelligent species. Hunting method: Hunting is mainly carried out in the morning, dusk and night (nocturnal tendency is obvious), using the large silent palm pads to sneak close, and launching an explosive sprint within 20-50 meters from the prey. Despite its huge weight, the Dire Leopard can still reach a sprint speed of 95-145 kilometers per hour in a very short distance, and it only takes about 2.5 Seconds to accelerate to the maximum speed. This extraordinary explosive power is another source of its title of "Rainforest Ghost". The prey often only feels a black wind coming and is knocked down. Note: There is a possibility of intelligent species being born in the Panthera umbrinus group.
Longwen has now become a piece of historical Machiavellian writing.
What kind of fan are you? What is Typhon?
A very interesting story about exotic beasts. Here are three tickets. Don't die 🙂
Five words for the title
It's written like a physical book, and it's a decent novel about exotic beasts. However, there is a big drawback: there are too few updates! Are there any updates on the shelves? 😏 If the quality is of this quality, you can order all the pieces
If you like it by default, please leave a like.
Too lazy to post a comment but I'm catching up on reading
Excellent quality (said a lot of compliments) People who have never read Alien Beasts will also like it.
Write well, I won't read it for now
Not bad, support it with a monthly ticket
It's really well written. I feel it's the best novel about alien beasts I've ever read. I'll give you my monthly pass 🙂
I finished reading it in one sitting, it was very interesting
Come on, 6 recommendation votes🎫voted
Well written😍
It's really rare. I'll update it when it's released.
Not bad, at least there is an explanation for the intelligence of other creatures. Unlike many alien beast stories, ordinary earth creatures have high intelligence.
Nice
As title
Okay, okay, you can do these 30 chapters, you can do it in the alien beast novels, they are better than those beast-skin people, but don't turn into a dragon. Chinese dragons are good-looking, but if they are not the kind of dragons in mythological texts that are born to fly in the air and use magic, they will be useless. According to the biological world, a snake with 4 legs is useless. It has two front legs that can be grasped, and the hind legs are redundant. It can't swim as fast as a snake on land with its legs, and it can't swim as fast in the water without its tail. It would be great if the author could refer to the movie Dragon Wars
Very well written
I hope it will be put on the shelves as soon as possible and there will be more updates soon.
The best alien beast novel I've seen in a while
Very touching, I hope the author never wants to be a eunuch
The introduction looks interesting, but it's a pity that the number of words is too few 🙂
Not bad, keep it up, I can leave all the tickets to you
It's very well written. The author will update it quickly.
The introduction is very interesting, look forward to it
