Twin Births of the Mountains and Seas

In ancient times, Kun and Peng were one being. Three thousand years ago, the heavens split and their bloodline was divided: Kun sank into the deep sea, while Peng soared to the nine heavens.

Three thousand years later, two young men meet across worlds.

Bei Ming, seventeen, is the commander of a mercenary group, disowned by his family. He’s cheeky, his catchphrase is “We’re already here, so why not,” and his greatest talent is getting into trouble. Lin Xu, eighteen, is an invisible senior in high school: nearsighted, quiet, and perpetually ranked thirty-first in his grade. His greatest wish is not to be noticed.

They have never met, yet they can talk inside each other’s minds. They live in different worlds, yet can switch bodies and experience each other’s lives.

On the same night, they both encounter the same organization. Bei Ming’s master disintegrates on a mountaintop, and his senior sister is pierced through before his eyes. Lin Xu’s parents die on his birthday, and he leaps from a sixty-story building. A hundred-meter wingspan explodes into view behind him. The cage shatters, and Peng’s eyes open wide.

From the lively bustle of the mercenary camp to the destruction of a sect, from strange adventures across the lands of mountains and seas to the thousand-year wager of the nine-tailed foxes of Qingqiu, companions appear one by one, then fall one by one in the flames of war. As the ancient creator gods near their awakening and the heavens prepare to split once more, the two young men finally understand: their meeting was never a coincidence.

The day Kun and Peng become one again will be the day the abyss and the nine heavens reunite.
