I Ascended the Throne Through Bankruptcy Restructuring

Reborn as a doomed crown princess, Lin Wei’s first moment on the scene is being sentenced to death by poisoned wine.

She calmly dismantles the other party’s frame-up, then turns the tables and leaves Emperor Jing and Consort Shu roasting over the fire.

But this rotten court is utterly broke: snowstorms, famine, an empty treasury, and a whole court of officials who do nothing but complain about poverty.

Lin Wei sighs. “All right, I’ll teach you what supply chain finance is.”

Pledging government grain, futures contracts, circulating credit… In three months, she stabilizes grain prices; in six, she takes control of the salt and iron trade; in a year, she has sidelined the great clans and powerful families.

Later, looking at the silver filling the treasury and the lines of disaster victims stretching beyond the city to thank her, Emperor Jing asks what she really wants.

Lin Wei looks at the imperial throne and smiles.

“Uncle, I’ll manage this realm for you. And as I keep managing it… it’ll become mine.”
