The Crimes of the Alps

The Sins of the Alps A sudden diagnosis of cerebral infarction shatters the comfortable, privileged life of wealthy businessman An Ming. Beneath Shanghai’s gray autumn sky, a medical report reveals a deadly hidden danger in his blood vessels, warning that collapse could come at any moment. Following his doctor’s advice, he needs to recuperate somewhere quiet and elevated. Switzerland becomes his last refuge for recovery. Long illness brings clarity, but the human heart is hard to fathom. An Ming insists on traveling to the Alps, taking only his wife, Li Fang, with him. He cuts off contact with all their friends, relatives, and children, hoping only to preserve what little peace remains in his final years of comfort. But behind Li Fang’s gentle, poised, impeccable exterior lies a secret known to no one. A Jungfrau wallpaper, a hidden contact in Zurich, deliberately deleted chat logs, and Interlaken quietly circled on a map: every step is a clue. What appears to be a tender stay abroad is, in truth, the final gambit of a journey toward the snowy mountains. Beneath the Alps’ pure, sacred peaks lie long-buried secrets, hidden entanglements, and a crime plotted long ago. As layer after layer of the pristine disguise falls away, the quiet mountains lose their romance. This solitary journey across mountains and seas will ultimately expose every dark truth hidden beneath the gentle facade.
