An archaeological team discovered a huge city buried deep in the Taklimakan Desert. The unearthed tortoise shells and stone tablets recorded an ancient civilization that had never been seen in the annals of history - Shanhaihai City. This civilization began with a small tribe that could communicate with all spirits. With their control of the knowledge of the "Book of Mountains and Seas", they tamed strange beasts, refined elixirs, and built towers that reached the sky. It took three hundred years to go from wilderness to glory, and then suddenly collapsed on the night of their peak. Under the ruins, two diametrically opposed memory threads intertwined and emerged: among the last generation of great witches in the empire, the younger brother firmly believed that man could conquer nature and maintained the crumbling empire with an iron fist; while the older brother Li heard the wails of strange beasts, the cries of mountains and rivers, and the curses of oppressed tribes while communicating with all things.
