Spring Beneath the Folded Canopy

A marriage decree binds Lu Ningyu to Shen Yu, the young general she has admired for years. But on their wedding night, she is branded a thief who stole another woman's marriage. On the very day they wed, her husband pressures her at every turn, insisting on taking a second wife! She thought she had married the wrong man, only to discover that the so-called woman he could never forget was the mute girl she herself had once entrusted with caring for the man she loved! Grandmother: “Women shouldn't wield blades. Your husband is your heaven, so know your place.” Husband: “You don't understand propriety, and you're narrow-minded. You were never meant to be my wife!” The scheming concubine hides behind her inability to speak, crying and acting pitiful all day long! Lu Ningyu burns her wedding dress, smashes her jade pendant, takes the gold and silver, and ends the marriage decisively with a letter of divorce. On the way to Ruxia, she is ambushed and falls into danger. Somehow, she ends up with a “husband.” He's weak and useless, yet obeys her in everything and spends his entire fortune on treating her injuries. Lu Ningyu can't help thinking: “A husband like this is worth more than a fortune!” When Lu Ningyu regains her memory, she looks at the man pretending to be helpless. “Fragile? Stop pretending!” She swallows a bellyful of curses, knocks him out, then turns and gallops toward the battlefield with her spear! She sits astride her horse, bathed in rosy light.
