Meeting You in the Long Night

The capital is never short on excitement.

The mansions of the powerful host banquets day after day, while music and revelry fill the ten-mile main street night after night.

And it is never short on women's grievances, either.

A young woman goes missing, and the authorities say to wait;

a wife is beaten to death, and her husband's family says she died of illness;

a daughter refuses to marry and throws herself into a well, and her parents call her unfilial.

After a few idle remarks over tea, the world outside carries on with its songs and dances.

After all, there are so many women in the world. Under the weight of secluded households, marriage contracts, clan rules, and public opinion, one death, one disappearance, or one injustice is hardly a major matter.

Shen Qingtang once thought these things had nothing to do with her.

Life in the Shen family was hard enough. All she wanted was to save up enough money, find a kind husband to marry, and shut the door on the world to live her own life.

Then, on the eve of her fifteenth birthday, Shen Qingtang suddenly gained the ability to enter dreams, where she met a crown prince who had been dead for a year. He asked her to investigate the cause of his death.

At first, Shen Qingtang solved cases for money and to stay alive.

Later, she wanted to find a way forward for the women of the world.
