Dunhuang Moonlight

In the chaotic era of Dunhuang, Cao Yijin of the Guiyi Army had only just subdued the border threats. Hexi seemed peaceful, but undercurrents churned beneath the surface. Mingyue, the orphaned daughter of the Zhai family, had lived two lives. In her previous one, she had devoted herself to farming and managing the land, becoming skilled in village affairs and knowledgeable about people's livelihoods. In this life, however, she suffered a childhood tragedy and was sent to a music troupe. Once an old case was cleared, she put her unusual knowledge to use, reclaiming gardens and introducing fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants, and cotton, while planning trade along the Silk Road. Amid perilous rivalries between great families and watchful eyes from every clan, she made a living through farming and weaving. She sought no glory for herself, only for the people of Hexi to have grain in their storehouses, meat in their pots, warm clothes, and fresh vegetables, preserving a little warmth and life in this desert frontier.
