Three Stars in a Dream, One Melody for the World

Wen Zhixu is a rare female composer in the industry, writing lyrics, arranging, and performing her own music. She favors traditional Chinese-style music and refuses to follow the crowd.

She is determined to compose a set of auspicious pieces themed around Fu, Lu, and Shou. Yet though she knows the five traditional notes inside out and is skilled in chords, musical textures, and orchestration, no matter how many times she refines the melodies, she still cannot capture the solemn compassion and warmth of the three benevolent deities.

After wrestling with it late into the night, she falls asleep, exhausted, over her keyboard and music project. To her astonishment, the Three Star Gods of Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity appear in her dream to guide her.

Immortal music fills her ears and its spirit sinks into her heart. In a single night, four songs, lyrics and melodies alike, come together as if by nature.

Warmth is Fortune, righteousness is Prosperity, longevity is Long Life, and together they make completeness.

When she burns incense to offer her thanks, a voice drifts down from the clouds:

“Spread goodness through music and bring peace to people through sound. That is the finest composition of your life.”
