Game in the Wheat Stubble Field

In the summer of 1988, in a wheat stubble field in Lijiaao, a rusty iron box was taken out of a broken house by seventeen-year-old Yao Qiming. Inside the iron box were an old land deed and a letter of report revealing that the village party secretary Liu Youtian had misappropriated canal construction funds and intimidated witnesses. The boy who originally only wanted to protect his father and maintain the dignity of his family was pushed into a head-on conflict with local power because of his evidence and courage. He used a paper land deed to threaten and submitted a report letter to the investigation team, in exchange for a night of storm in the village: frame-up, fire, interrogation and change of power after the rainstorm. On the surface, he got a recommendation and left this land; but that series of events illuminated the darkness higher up. As a young man grows up in the county town, he not only has to face academics and interpersonal relationships, but also has to continue to deal with the broader power structure - this is a realistic novel about courage, justice and the price of power, with both intense investigation and delicate character growth.
