No Passage

I work the night shift, watching the security monitors. Every day, my job is to stare at rows of screens and write boring “incident reports.” Then one night, a coworker who had just had their memorial service the day before appeared on the screen. The access system said: No one entered. The recording said: Buffering failed. But that figure was right there, slowly walking past the end of the corridor. After that, the System, the records, even my memories began to distort, one piece at a time... I have to write all this down. Otherwise, one day, even I might be erased.
