Master, Please Reform Yourself

One-sentence synopsis:

This is the story of an unattractive female advisor and a county magistrate who go from disliking the sight of each other to finding each other utterly agreeable.

Long-winded synopsis:

A new magistrate arrives in Qingshui County, with fair skin and striking looks, just begging to be pushed down.

Qingshui County also has an advisor, Master Meng, whose looks are plain and whose nature is rotten.

The magistrate is determined to be an honest official. The advisor gives a knowing smile and folds his sleeves: “It’s easy to be corrupt, but hard to be honest. Let’s see how you manage it!”

The usually peaceful Qingshui County grows turbulent with the arrival of its new magistrate. A case file that turns up by chance seems simple, yet its details are vague. A closer look reveals much more beneath the surface.

Men are murdered on several consecutive days, each found dead in a gruesome state with a pen stabbed into his brow. After days of investigation, there is no trace of the killer.

A wealthy official’s daughter dies in her chambers, and her new husband is suspected. Just as the case is about to be closed, strange details come to light. What was the motive for the murder?

A merciful white jade Buddha, makeup on a beauty’s face, a ghost in white at midnight... How can these bizarre cases be solved?

The new magistrate is rushed off his feet, while the rotten advisor sits back and watches with a smile. Well, Magistrate, hurry up and solve the case!

The honest magistrate snaps, “Meng Wuliang!”

Then, as suddenly as the east wind rising overnight, she follows him into the imperial court. Flowers bloom and wither in their own time, and in the end, even a heartless man finds love.
