From Wretched Office Worker to Supreme Insect Queen

Lan Xun was just an overworked wage slave rushing between experiments in the lab, consumed with anxiety over his monthly evaluations.

One of the subjects he studied in the lab was another species in the universe: the Zerg.

The Zerg were exceptionally vicious and fierce in battle. Hundreds of years ago, they had already evolved the ability to take on human form.

They were driven by primitive instincts to expand their territory, feed, and reproduce. Yet their supreme leader, the Queen, had not appeared for many, many years.

After completing a mission, Lan Xun fell into a deep sleep. When he woke up, he had become a weak sub-Zerg named Lan Xun Winston in the distant Zerg world, condemned to death.

The good news: he qualified to attend a feast in the Zerg nest, where he had a chance of becoming the Queen.

The bad news: the Zerg had gone without a Queen for too long. Those of them who were "candidates" would only become food for the nest.

Lan Xun's escape attempt failed, and he was taken into the nest.

Then he claimed the crown that belonged solely to the Queen.

1. The Zerg worldbuilding is full of my own ideas and still being worked on. There should be pregnancy and egg-laying.

2. There will probably be many cannon-fodder tops along the way, but it will ultimately be one-on-one. Only the official partner will have mutual feelings with the bottom. The other cannon-fodder tops are there to provide melodrama.

3. They're all bugs, not humans, so their morals may be a bit lacking. No matter how hard the tops try, they can only imitate humans, not truly become people. The bottom will probably go down the same route later on.

There is a lot of survival-of-the-fittest behavior among the Zerg. It's perfectly normal for supporting characters and cannon-fodder tops to die. Eating each other is fairly common, too.

4. I'll add more if I think of anything. The blurb and worldbuilding may change at any time.

Theme: There is always hope in adversity.
