Qi Miao’s boyfriend had a twin younger brother named Song Qian. The two of them looked almost exactly alike.
So after her boyfriend passed away, grief-stricken Qi Miao repeatedly mistook Song Qian for her late boyfriend, hugging him and sobbing as she poured out how much she missed him.
Song Qian’s face darkened on the spot, and before long, he left the country.
Feeling guilty, Qi Miao stayed up all night writing an eight-hundred-word apology, full of heartfelt remorse and enough to bring anyone to tears. She sent it to Song Qian
A red exclamation mark appeared on the screen:
The message was sent, but the recipient rejected it.
Qi Miao: “...”
Fine. Blocking someone is an effective way to stop embarrassment from spreading.
The world is so big. Surely they’d never run into each other again.
Years later, Qi Miao ran into Song Qian again. Hoping to make amends, the first thing she did was take his hand and spend half an hour sincerely apologizing for treating him like a stand-in back then.
Once she was done, Qi Miao felt a weight lift from her shoulders. Her morals had clearly reached a higher plane. She was just about to make a quick getaway when Song Qian grabbed her by the back of the collar and stopped her in her tracks.
Qi Miao turned around, sweating profusely, and saw Song Qian’s lips curl into a dangerously amused smile.
He leaned close and gritted out,
“Why are you running? Back when you mistook me for my brother, didn’t you hold me pretty tight?”
Song Qian was unruly and carefree. The most outrageous thing he had ever done was fall for his brother’s girlfriend, Qi Miao.
After his brother’s sudden death, Qi Miao cried her eyes out and repeatedly called Song Qian by his brother’s name. Furious, Song Qian fled overseas, deciding that out of sight was out of mind.
But when he unexpectedly met Qi Miao again, one smile from her was enough to leave him defenseless all over again.
One night, Song Qian took a brutal blow while protecting Qi Miao.
Blood trickled down from his brow.
Heartbroken, Qi Miao cried as she applied medicine to his wound. “Don’t you hate me the most? Why are you playing the hero?”
Song Qian caught her restless hand and pressed it against his stinging wound.
The pain sharpened his features, but his gaze burned with astonishing intensity.
“Who said I hate you?”
“Qi Miao, look closely, ”
“I fight, I race cars, and I’m prickly all over. I’m nothing like my brother.”
“Could you really not fall for someone like me, even a little?”
“His brother lies beneath the sea, loving her, while he stands on the shore, waiting for a tide of his own.”
