Six months ago, a strange apocalypse descended. Humanity awakened powers and Systems to fight back against the disasters, but Lu Xihe... got nothing at all.

The village ran out of food and supplies, so they had no choice but to set out for the nearest safe zone. Just before the strange tide swept in, Lu Xihe was pushed onto the last vehicle bound for safety. The village fell soon after.

A useless little nobody with no System and no powers, he was despised by everyone. In the middle of the night, he overheard them debating whether to abandon him on the way or keep him as emergency rations.

Want to eat me? No way. I'll turn into a monster and bite you all to death!

He jumps into the strange tide and happens to land in a gap? He gets up and runs, but a monster bumps into him and goes flying? He hides in a cave, and an invisible barrier keeps the monsters out?

Heh heh, could I be some hidden powerhouse?

He goes out at midnight to look for supplies and runs straight into a low-level monster.

Lu Xihe: eyes wide in shock → whirls around and bolts → shouts, "Get lost!"

The monster behind him: sits obediently → curls into a ball → rolls away for a mile.

Lu Xihe stands alone in the cold wind, completely baffled. "What's going on? Can I... order monsters around?!"

A high-level monster attacks the safe zone. Lu Xihe heads out to fight, and in the chaos accidentally smacks the leader monster right across the face. The monster's expression darkens, and Lu Xihe's heart sinks.

Good heavens, does it think I haven't died fast enough?

But then several high-level monsters drop to their knees in unison, bowing respectfully. "Master, please give us your orders."

Lu Xihe freezes on the spot, toes curling in embarrassment, and is once again completely baffled. "What now? Did I slap some sense into that monster?!"

Well, looks like there's no hiding his powerhouse identity now~

He accidentally wanders into a monster sanctuary. The Monster King sits upon his throne, looking down imperiously at all the monsters.

Is this where I meet my end?

In his panic, Lu Xihe glances up at the Monster King's face. His hunched back straightens at once, and he shakes off the low-level monsters holding him before blurting out:

"Dad!"

The Monster King beams, flashes over, and pulls him into his arms. "My good son!"

All the monsters are dumbfounded. The human they captured to claim a reward is actually the young master they've never met?!!

It's over, it's all over, we're completely doomed

At the Monster King's command, rows of high-level monsters drop to their knees and kowtow, greeting him with the utmost respect: "We pay our respects to Your Highness, the Little Prince."

Well, would you look at that. The biggest backer in the strange apocalypse is me.

1. One-on-one, both pure, old-married-couple dynamic from the start, both strong! Plot-focused! A touch of ensemble cast! Multiple couples!

2. An alternate-world apocalypse, with a little sci-fi setting. Monsters are roughly like zombies, but this isn't a horror-game-style monster story. Lots of original worldbuilding. A light, short read.
