[Western Crossover] Making Dumplings in Gotham with Workers' Comp

Leen is killed by a truck while trying to save a cat.

As she hovers between life and death, a cat claiming to be a "god" offers her a second chance at life.

Cat: Human, hello. Coming back from the dead might have a price. Are you willing to pay it?

Leen: Yes, yes, I am!

And then she loads the Merit-Based Extra Life System.

To fully come back to life, she must transmigrate across different timelines and save heroes before they die.

Every time she prevents a death, she gains another year of life.

To make things easier, the System gives Leen a body that cannot die or feel pain. It gives her no other cheats. She has to earn her work injury compensation by dying over and over again.

In the first universe, the Joker blows her up. The System compensates her with 30 seconds of precognition.

In the second universe, Bane impales her. The System compensates her with a defensive passive: "Whenever you are attacked, your opponent suffers multiple fractures."

In the third universe, she gets a gun, only for Black Mask to shoot her in the head. The System gives her the ability to "hit every shot."

…

Leen: Damn you, you won't let me play unless I can't die, huh?

After who knows how many cycles, Leen, driven mad by dying, storms into Arkham with a body covered in buffs and a sinister grin.

"Mommy's coming~"

The villains: Holy crap, wait, don't come any closer... Batman, help!!!!

.

Recently, the Bat-family heroes have found themselves dreaming often. The same little girl always appears in their dreams.

She appears in their hour of need, willing to sacrifice her life to turn everything around.

They can't remember her face or her name.

They only remember her speaking in a childish voice, with a power that puts people at ease:

"Don't be scared. I'm here to save you!"

Her tone is like someone soothing a child who has fallen down.

There is no way so many people could share the same dream. This proves that she really exists.

At last, they find her in Arkham

At the time, the girl is grabbing the Joker by the hair and smashing him against the wall. Covered in blood, she looks at them expressionlessly.

Then, in the same gentle voice as in their dreams, she says:

"Don't worry. I'm here."

#What does a hero on their last legs look like? This!#

#Ask around anywhere from Gotham to Metropolis, and they'll tell you who's everyone's mommy#

#Look at me, how much do I still resemble my old self?#

.

The plot takes center stage, with little romance.

No angst, pure fun.

There are original elements, original elements, and lots of original elements. It's a mash-up of a bunch of universes.

A sort-of everyone-loves-her story. All the death scenes are from the comics.

Theme: Let heroes bleed no more and shed no tears.
