Qin Chi transmigrates into a book, taking the place of Xue Yuche's doomed early-death Daoist partner. Xue Yuche is the story's great villain.
The original Qin Chi was a playboy. As a child, he saved Xue Yuche, then saw how beautiful he was and threw a fit, insisting that Xue Yuche marry him.
Out of gratitude for the life debt, the Xue family agreed.
They were still practically strangers at eighteen, but they married in accordance with the childhood engagement.
On their wedding night, the original Qin Chi forced Xue Yuche to consummate the marriage. He showed even less restraint afterward, carousing and telling everyone about what went on in their bedroom. He became a source of humiliation for Xue Yuche, who stabbed him to death after falling to the dark side.
When Qin Chi transmigrated, he found himself staring into a pair of bright eyes filled with humiliation. A bright red wedding robe hung loosely from the other man's shoulders, and Qin Chi's hand was gripping his pale shoulder.
Qin Chi jumped in fright, jolting and crashing down on top of Xue Yuche. Then he heard Xue Yuche let out a muffled groan of pain.
Qin Chi felt as if a sharp sword were hanging over his head. He scrambled off Xue Yuche and rolled away.
"I'm sorry. I drank too much and lost my head. I didn't mean to."
That night, Qin Chi knelt before both sets of parents, tears in his eyes as he listed his many crimes. He firmly declared that he and Xue Yuche were not meant to be.
Xue Yuche, usually as impassive as still water, stood to the side in his bright red wedding robes and glanced at him without a word.
After Qin Chi had tearfully knelt before the ancestors of both families, the marriage was finally annulled on their wedding night.
Qin Chi breathed a little easier. Though he had arrived in time and hadn't done anything to Xue Yuche, he decided to keep his distance, just to be safe. Xue Yuche joined the thriving Qingyun Sect, while Qin Chi went to the struggling Chiyang Sect.

Recently, Qin Chi went down the mountain to exterminate demons and saved another handsome man, who insisted on repaying him by offering himself in marriage.
As Qin Chi tried to evade him, a powerful sword aura struck and sent him flying ten meters away.
The newcomer wore flowing white robes and had cool, refined features. Who else could it be but Xue Yuche?
Qin Chi's heart tightened. He hurriedly asked, "What are you doing here?"
Xue Yuche's beautiful eyes swept coldly over the handsome man, then turned to Qin Chi. In a chilly voice, he said, "I'll kill my husband and prove my Dao."
Qin Chi stared at him in disbelief. "An ex-husband still counts as a husband?"

Much later, Qin Chi held a little bundle who looked exactly like Xue Yuche as a child, bragging to everyone he met: "My son. Cute, right? His daddy is even prettier."
Everyone who'd heard him brag one too many times: Who even asked???
Sweet romance, with children.
