A Wife Fell from the Sky

Tianyun Stronghold is a bandit lair, but its benefits are so good that its power keeps growing. At last, it catches the emperor's attention, and he issues a secret decree: whichever prince can take Tianyun Stronghold will inherit the Eastern Palace.

So one prince comes to attack the stronghold this month, and another comes the next. After more than half a year, they still haven't taken it, and half their armies have been captured. The emperor is furious. Qu Yangjing watches the pots in the stronghold kitchen simmer day and night and frets along with them. If they keep eating like this, even he, the stronghold leader, will have to beg on the streets.

Just as he's at his wit's end, a scout reports that a handsome young man has fainted at the foot of the mountain.

Qu Yangjing goes to rescue him himself. Once the man is cleaned up, he realizes, oh! It's the Seventh Prince, Su Mo.

But Su Mo says he's a refugee fleeing disaster. Fine, a refugee it is. Whatever his real identity, as long as he can keep everyone at the stronghold fed, that's good enough.

The other princes come to attack for a month and suffer defeat for a month. Su Mo comes for a month and, wow, becomes the stronghold leader's wife.

That counts as taking the stronghold, doesn't it...

Right...
