My Childhood Friend Is a Powerful Eunuch of the Western Depot

Lu Ying was once the daughter of a Grand Secretary.

As a child, she attended an academy open to both boys and girls. Her mother was worried, so she brought along Wen Er, a household-born servant, to be her study companion.

Wen Er was exceptionally handsome, a rare beauty among the servants. He went to school with her, ground her ink, and followed her around, always addressing her as "Miss." In those innocent childhood years, he was a dear friend.

Her cousin teased her, saying that if Lu Ying were a young master and Wen Er a maid, she would surely take him as a personal attendant one day. Little Lu Ying refused to accept that. Why couldn't a young lady have a personal attendant?

She turned around and asked Wen Er if he was willing. Innocent Wen Er had no idea what a personal attendant was, only that it sounded intimate. Blushing, he agreed: "I'll do whatever Miss says."

But childhood flowed by like water, never to return. An imperial decree stripped her father of his position and sent her whole family into exile.

The three of them supported one another in Lingnan for ten years.

Though poor, they found contentment in their simple life.

Ten years later, a new emperor ascended the throne and the old case was resolved. The court decreed that the officials implicated back then were permitted to return to the capital and spend their remaining years there.

At last, she returned to the capital after years away, never expecting to meet her childhood companion again in the vast crowd.

He told her he had placed first in the imperial examinations and was a newly appointed Hanlin editor. He had earned a scholarly name and was now called Wen Yanqing.

They exchanged letters, sent messages, went boating, and traveled together. She boldly reached out to take his hand.

But the real Hanlin editor said, "Wen Yanqing" was the name and identity his elder brother had assumed.

"Wen Yanqing's" real name was Wen Fazhen, the notorious Director of the Western Depot, said to wield power over the whole court and be cruel and sinister.

A young female writer and a powerful eunuch. BG.

The heroine is a writer in ancient times.

The hero is simply evil, a malevolent ghost, a pure yandere, and a real eunuch (he's completely castrated!). He's extremely cruel and not a good person, a rabid dog of a man.

Set in a lightly fictionalized Ming dynasty. The emperor in the background has no specific name or reign era.

Court politics play a relatively minor role. The story is told from the heroine's point of view, and most of it unfolds through her everyday life among the common people.
