"Demon Slayer Squad 3: Edo Strange Tales," the latest installment in a popular game series, was met with a flood of criticism as soon as it hit the shelves.
The combat design was terrible, the power scaling was a complete mess. You could kill minor demons with ease, but run into a Crescent Moon and you were done for. The plot was pitifully thin, too: every time you unlocked a new map, there were only one or two missions tied to the main story. The rest was an endless cycle of killing demons, killing demons, killing demons. They really treated players like mindless wage slaves.
Unfortunately, after staying up all night to finish her paper before the deadline, she was dazed and bleary-eyed. She meant to buy "Demon Slayer Squad 1: Taisho Strange Tales," but accidentally bought the heavily criticized third game instead...
Well, she'd already bought it. Might as well give it a try.
Huh? Wait, had she turned her computer's brightness up this high? Why was a wash of white light pouring out of the screen? And why had a gale started raging outside her window?
On a street lined with old wooden houses, passersby who seemed to be, no, definitely were, people from ancient times stared curiously at her twenty-first-century loungewear.
No way... Was it really her turn to transmigrate?
Another line of text appeared: [You can return to your original world after clearing the game.]
If that was the case... Lian Xue took a deep breath. In this Edo era, full of samurai who would use people to test their blades and demons who ate humans, she should put all her stats into [Strength] first... Judging by the character sheet, her starting Charisma and Intelligence were both 9, which should be enough...
She'd try a mission first.
[You have accepted a mission: slay a demon lurking in this neighborhood.]
[You used the Breathing Technique, Eighth Form: Waterfall...]
[You have no swordsmanship skills and cannot use this move.]
What? She couldn't just click a button like in a game and use a skill?
SOS!
Was she about to get GAME OVER? This was only the first mission! She still wanted to clear the game, go home, and marry Kyoujurou! So all that talk about getting married after the battle was over really was a death flag. She'd never say that again...

The next morning, he came by with breakfast for the childhood friend he'd been dating since high school, only to stare in shock at her empty, ransacked room.
He immediately turned to sprint a hundred meters to the police station, but a line of glowing text appeared before his eyes.
[Your lover is currently inside "Demon Slayer Squad 3." Do you want to control her in battle, despite her having no combat skills at all?]
[Please note: death in the game will result in real death.]

A story about Lian Xue, a modern college student who transmigrates into a Demon Slayer game.
KamaLian/AkazaLian: Kyoujurou is outside the game, while Akaza is inside it, and the two share some of their consciousness. The blurb was getting too long, so I left out Akaza's part...
Kyoujurou only plays for her at the beginning. Later, Xue'er will learn the Breathing Techniques and swordsmanship.
Theme: Having fun!
