818: That Varia Girlfriend of Kise's

Spelbi Yuna, Varia's Cloud Guardian and a notorious bully across Sicily.

After yet another brawl with Belphegor, which pushed their damage allowance for the month way over the limit, both of them were bundled up and sold to a Japanese entertainment company by Mammon, Varia's furious accountant and Mist Guardian. Just like that, they both debuted as idols.

In short, they're famous now.

Mammon, whose eyes were firmly on the money, wasn't about to let them walk away, so their idol activities became a regular thing.

She met a very interesting guy through one of those arrangements, though strictly speaking, Yuna was only interested in his face.

Still, she started dating him. He seemed to like her a lot, and Yuna didn't want to hurt him, so naturally she said yes.

It definitely had nothing to do with his looks.

"Aw, so after all this time, that's all the impression I made on little Yuna?" Her clingy boyfriend sounded a little hurt.

"That's not it. Kise does have lots of good points," Yuna replied earnestly. "He's got a great personality, and he's really handsome? Okay, that still sounds shallow... But that's not what I wanted to say."

"Kise-kun, let's break up."

Life in show business was just a side gig. Her real job was being a mafia member.

Besides, she was Italian. Was it really so hard to understand that once she'd had enough fun, she'd break up with him?

She'd be going back to Italy afterward, and they'd never see each other again. Well, that would be the end of it.

That was how things were supposed to go, if Yuna hadn't been forced to stay in Japan for a certain mission.

She enrolled at Teiko Middle School for convenience. It was a good school, with friendly classmates, well-equipped facilities, and plenty of clubs... It would've been even better if her ex-boyfriend hadn't been sitting right in front of her.

"Kise-kun, listen, I really never meant to start things with you and then abandon you..."

"Oh, I get it. So little Yuna never intended to be with me from the beginning..."

Seeing Kise's face darken, Yuna guiltily looked away, but in the end she honestly nodded.

A few notes before you read:

Kise is the love interest, one-on-one pairing.

The heroine has supernatural abilities, and there'll be a crossover with Bungo Stray Dogs, but at heart this is just a bickering, superpowered school romance comedy. (Nods.)

Theme: Always be sincere in matters of the heart
