Twelve Years After Transmigrating

-

Yuan Lian was born into a prominent aristocratic family, the only daughter of the Yuan clan's main branch. Treated like royalty, she grew up spoiled and willful.

The year she came of age, she traveled to Yunzhou to reunite with her parents, who served as local officials, and discuss her marriage. But she was caught in a rebel uprising. The entire city of Yunzhou was massacred, and she alone managed to escape.

While wandering in exile, Yuan Lian met Gu Jie, a feudal lord said to have murdered his father and brother, a cold-faced demon feared by all.

To stay alive, she used the favor of having saved his life when they were young to blackmail him into keeping her by his side. That was the only way she managed to survive.

Then, hoping to use his power to get revenge, she did everything she could to please him, lowering herself and acting meek. He still treated her coldly.

When she once again tried to use her charms to get his help, Gu Jie rose and looked down at her condescendingly. "Miss Yuan, the life-saving favor you speak of was tossing me a piece of steamed bread before I starved to death, then stepping on my face and telling me to get lost so I wouldn't offend your eyes."

Yuan Lian went pale.

He sneered. "Get lost. I'm not interested in your body."

Later, Yuan Lian missed a step and traveled twelve years into the future.

She learned that the former young feudal lord had become emperor. He had reserved the position of empress for a dead woman and remained alone to this day.

The leader of the rebels had been killed by Gu Jie himself, and his head had been hung from the city gate for all to see for three months.

They said the emperor had avenged his dead wife.

Thinking of that cold-faced demon, she grew curious about who could have inspired such devotion. "Who was the emperor's late wife?"

"Yuan Lian."

Yuan Lian, the person in question: Huh? Me?

Gu Jie, a feudal lord, was the illegitimate son of a minor official and a maid. As a child, he was sent to a powerful family to serve as a stable hand, where he was often humiliated and cursed at.

Later, he commanded a powerful army and killed without hesitation. Everyone feared him like a demon.

Nobody knew his weakness.

Until one day, the girl who had once clung to him suddenly left. They said she had gone alone to assassinate the rebel leader, Jiang Qi, to avenge her family.

He rushed after her like a madman, surrounding Yunzhou with an army of a hundred thousand, yet kneeling on the ground and begging Jiang Qi to let her go.

Only then did everyone realize that the demon's weakness was a woman.

A woman who had once humiliated him.

A scheming villainess x a dark, brooding man

She had never known that he loved her so much. How ridiculous.
