I Rose from the Coffin, and Now My Nemesis Won't Leave Me Alone

An Nuo lay in his coffin, staring at the lid that had been pried open a crack, and began to reminisce about his miserable life.

He had transmigrated for no apparent reason, been thrust into the role of the hero who would save the world, and finally died of exhaustion on the battlefield.

He was praised and celebrated, his portrait was hung on the wall, and the people were even given an extra day off in his honor.

None of this seemed particularly strange, except for the fact that he had opened his eyes again inside his coffin.

Hearing the people outside mutter things like, "May our ancestors protect us," and, "Unfilial descendants, lend us something. We'll definitely pay it back," he couldn't hold back any longer and burst out of his coffin.

"Have grave robbers started targeting their own ancestors now?!"

The unfilial descendants saw their ancestor rise from the coffin and quickly clung to his leg, wailing.

"Ancestor! Please do something about that giant dragon you defeated back in the day! It attacks our family every few days!"

An Nuo looked helplessly at the descendant clinging to his leg.

"What nonsense are you talking about? A giant dragon sleeps for a hundred years at a time. How could it keep attacking our family?"

But then an earthquake swept through, and An Nuo felt the earth and mountains shake. The tomb chamber crumbled, revealing the sky.

A gigantic golden eye appeared through the crack. Its impassive gaze instantly softened.

"I've found you!"

Gripping the longsword in his hand, An Nuo warily watched the old friend he'd fought for decades. He was about to attack when the other transformed back into human form.

The golden-haired, golden-eyed man stood at a distance, looking wronged, as if he were gazing at a heartless lover.

"I agreed when you said you wanted to become a dragon knight. Don't leave me again!"

"I never believed someone as powerful as you could die. So this really was a trick!"

Dragons have no concept of time, but their devotion is astonishing.

Whether it's a hoard of glittering treasure or the one they love.
