After I Joined Forces with My Childhood Friend to Get Married

[Childhood Friends / Marriage Before Love / He Has a Secret Crush]

[Tsundere, Scheming Little Punk x Clueless, Adorable Airhead]

Lin Yao and Lu Yanze grew up together, running around with their bottoms bare and wearing split-crotch pants. Lin Yao had always thought of their relationship as unbreakable brotherhood.

That changed when Lu Yanze returned to China after graduation. One night, Lin Yao got carried away and drank too much. They stayed in the same hotel room, and before she knew it, they had done something that went way beyond the syllabus.

The next morning, to keep things between them from getting even more awkward, Lin Yao and Lu Yanze agreed to manually erase their memories of the night before and pretend nothing had happened.

But as soon as they stepped out of the hotel, they ran straight into their mothers, who were strolling hand in hand.

Under their parents' interrogation and pressure, Lin Yao and Lu Yanze texted each other at the same time.

Lin Yao: [What do I do? Mom says I have to take responsibility for you...]

Lu Yanze: [How about we try a marriage of convenience?]

-

Lin Yao had assumed that Lu Yanze meant they would live together, like friends sharing a rental.

But after they got married, things turned out differently from what she had imagined. Here are the differences:

1. Their beyond-the-syllabus behavior somehow became part of married life.

2. She seemed to have fallen for Lu Yanze, in a way that went beyond friendship.

3. After they got married, Lu Yanze might have fallen for her too.

Later, when Lin Yao finally worked up the courage to tell Lu Yanze about these differences, he corrected her on the third one:

"Take out 'might,' take out 'have,' and the timing is wrong, too."

Lu Yanze's ears turned red as he thought: He had liked her ever since they were in sixth grade.
