An Expiring Relationship

"Cool, sharp-tongued CEO x spirited, rebellious young woman"

"Marriage first, love later / Marriage of convenience / Pretending turns real"

Before they got married, Xiang Shujun and Lin Ji privately agreed that once their five-year contract was up, they would part on good terms.

For four of those years, Lin Ji worked in management at a tech company overseas, and the two barely saw each other.

Then, in the final year of their arrangement, an unexpected change threw everything into chaos:

Lin Ji suddenly parachuted in as CEO of Mingzhou Group, becoming Xiang Shujun's direct superior without warning.

They added a clause to their agreement: to avoid unnecessary complications, they would pretend not to know each other in front of the group's employees.

At the time, aside from having a marriage certificate, they really weren't very familiar with each other.

But one evening, six months later...

Xiang Shujun sat on the living-room sofa working late. When Lin Ji came home, she looked up at him for a moment, then couldn't help bringing up what had happened that day.

"When you handed me those documents today, you touched my hand. A colleague saw. Could you be more careful next time? Don't make it so obvious..."

Lin Ji loosened his tie with one hand as he walked into the room. He gave a soft laugh and said nonchalantly, "The day before yesterday, you came to my office during your lunch break and sat right on my lap. You weren't exactly being careful then, either."

"..."

Xiang Shujun thought that, that day, his lap wasn't the only place she'd sat.
