After the Sky Screen Appeared, Zhu Yuanzhang Was Stunned

Zhu Yun was already a poor little orphan with no parents. After transmigrating into the Ming dynasty, he became Zhu Yuntong, whose mother died when he was born, whose father ignored him, and whose grandparents didn't care for him. Zhu Yun didn't find this much of an adjustment.

The only problem was that in the Ming dynasty, it seemed like following anyone would lead him to certain death. After a second's deliberation, he chose to rely on himself instead of attaching himself to Zhu Yunwen or Zhu Di.

Just as he was secretly hiding his strength and biding his time, thunder cracked across a clear sky, and a sky screen appeared.

[Over the next year, I will tell you about the turbulent lives of the first five emperors of the Ming dynasty: the founding emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, the Jianwen Emperor Zhu Yunwen, the Yongle Emperor Zhu Di, the Xuande Emperor Zhu Zhanji, and the Zhengtong Emperor Zhu Qizhen.]

Beneath the sky screen, Zhu Yuanzhang, still mourning the loss of his son, gritted his teeth.

"The Yongle Emperor, Zhu Di!"

Oh, good heavens! The emperor's fourth son staged a rebellion!

Two days later, another sky screen appeared.

[To the tune of a cheerful march: Today, I will spend ten years telling you about the life of the greatest emperor in our Ming dynasty, the illustrious and exalted founding ancestor Zhu Yuntong, who turned the tide, saw far into the future, and will be remembered throughout history for all eternity.]

The craftsmen and scholars of the Ming dynasty were stunned. What on earth was an "illustrious and exalted" emperor?

Once they understood, they cried, Oh, good heavens! The emperor's grandson staged a rebellion too!

Zhu Yuanzhang fixed his sons and grandson with a murderous glare. "So both my sons and my grandson want to overthrow the throne beneath me, is that it?"

Zhu Di: "Father, your son is innocent. I never wanted to be an ancestor."

Zhu Yuntong (blank-faced and dazed): "We could add two more characters after 'illustrious and exalted.'"

But as the two sky screens continued their detailed explanations, everyone found it harder and harder to hide the admiration in their eyes whenever they looked at Zhu Yuntong.

The officials and people petitioned: "Your Majesty, please make the illustrious and exalted founding ancestor the Crown Prince's heir."

Zhu Yuanzhang looked at his young grandson. "Come on, Yuntong."

Zhu Yuntong thought it would be more satisfying to ascend the throne the way the sky-screen video described.
