Did the World's Number One Die Today?

Chen Wujiu killed the world's greatest martial artist with ease. On his way back to report, a sudden downpour forced him to take shelter in a ruined temple.

In the middle of the night, a wet hand touched the back of his neck. Laughter strangled in his throat as the hand tightened. “Is that so? Then, great hero, take another look. You killed the world's greatest martial artist, so who am I?”

A strikingly beautiful ghost mask terrified Chen Wujiu out of his wits.

The man, drenched in cold rain, climbed on top of him and dragged him down to hell.

“Wujiu, you really are... so cruel.”

Twelve years ago, his whole family was slaughtered, and he was gravely wounded in the rain.

Chen Wujiu had pried open his hand, removed a broken branch, and told him it was useless for killing people. Then he took him in and taught him to forge swords and practice martial arts.

He was stubborn, ruthless, and consumed by ambition, but Chen Wujiu never let go of his hand.

Twelve years later, burdened by blood debts and carrying a secret treasure, he fled as the entire martial world hunted him down.

He sneered before the bright tip of his old friend's sword.

“Everyone wants to kill me. Why do you?”

You gave me a name, martial arts, and power. Why do you want to kill me too?

Chen Wujiu couldn't answer. He stammered, “For peace in the world.”

Lightning flashed.

The man sneered. “Do you even believe that yourself?”

Chen Wujiu felt as if he'd been struck by lightning.

Only then did he realize he hated the man's innocent expression, his honeyed words, and his inability to understand love.

He hated that the man didn't love him.
