Synopsis:
Zheng Chuxi used to be a rich young master, though barely wealthy enough to meet the school's lowest admissions requirements. His ability and grades weren't great, and he had an utterly cold personality, so he wasn't exactly popular to begin with.
Unfortunately, halfway through his studies, his family suddenly went bankrupt.
But... he'd already paid for all three years at the academy, and people in his line of work couldn't just switch majors at any time. He couldn't exactly quit, could he? With no other choice, Zheng Chuxi did everything he could to get by at school. But the young masters weren't easy to deal with. Even though he tried his best to avoid them, they seemed to resent the fact that a pauper like Zheng Chuxi acted so aloof. They turned all their daily activities into an excuse to pick on him.
He gritted his teeth and endured it. Then one day, when Zheng Chuxi came home covered in bruises and utterly exhausted, he found a cat in the roadside bushes. It was a beautiful purebred with long fur, clearly well cared for, and it seemed very friendly. The moment it saw him, it kept meowing nonstop.
This cat could probably fetch a lot of money.
He didn't want to do anything like that, but he had no other options. Feeling guilty and uneasy, he picked up the cat and took it home.
For one reason or another, Zheng Chuxi kept bringing home more and more animals. Lately, there had even been rumors of strange paranormal incidents. He was soft-hearted, and after spending so much time together, he couldn't bring himself to sell the animals. Keeping them was expensive, so he did everything he could to take on assignments between classes.
The one silver lining was that the awful rich kids, who'd always looked down on him, had suddenly started sending him money for all kinds of reasons.
