A classic groveling-after-the-breakup story, full of melodrama and chaos. It starts out as rustic countryside fiction, then later turns to chasing dreams in the entertainment industry. It's a betting-on-the-couples story, and everyone will grovel to win back their partner, so be warned. The ending might be happy or open; we'll see how it goes.
Country-boy celebrity or rich second-generation tops x sunny, cheerful, rustic college-boy bottom. The bottom starts out as an ordinary guy, then switches careers and becomes an idol. The show the tops are filming is actually a dating show (?)
Synopsis: In short, Guo Haoxiang was dumped by a beautiful celebrity who had come to their village to film a show.
It didn't cause much of a stir. He had confessed to him in private, to save face. As the eldest son in his family, Guo Haoxiang was a simple country boy in college who was always good at loving people, and he had done everything he could to love Ji Minghua.
Ji Minghua was hardly pleasant, all temper and just a hint of sweetness, but Guo Haoxiang was head over heels for him. He was like a moth drawn to a bright flame: the fiercer the fire burned, the more intoxicating it became.
The closest Guo Haoxiang ever got to Ji Minghua was when he hugged him after Ji Minghua slipped and fell into the rushing river during an outing in the hills behind Dongli Village.
But when Ji Minghua woke up, the person waiting beside him was Guo Haoxiang's childhood friend.
"Bro, you've got to let me have this one..." His pale, slender childhood friend, Luo Xile, whispered in his ear. "Please. If Brother Ji knows I saved his life, he'll be able to help me make something of myself, right?"
Luo Xile's eyes were shadowed and uneasy. He was the kid Guo Haoxiang had looked out for since they were little, and the only one in their courtyard whose family was desperately poor. He had no chance of ever leaving the mountains, and Guo Haoxiang had even taught him to read when they were kids.
What else could Guo Haoxiang do?
In the end, Guo Haoxiang said nothing and let Luo Xile take credit for saving Ji Minghua. What did it matter if he gave it up? He had always been warm and cheerful, and he didn't think this would stop Ji Minghua from falling for him.
The day Ji Minghua boarded the bus out of Dongli Village with Luo Xile, Guo Haoxiang seemed perfectly calm.
"Well, aren't you all having a great time laughing at me..." he muttered through gritted teeth beneath the stars. He tossed a stone into the air, and it landed heavily on the ground.
He hugged his knees and cried. Guo Haoxiang had thought that was the end of the romance. He had missed his chance to become famous, and the few people who had entered his life that summer were destined to be nothing more than shooting stars across the night sky.
But then two other people invited him to join them, one after the other. Two plane tickets, and he had to pick one, but both were headed to the same place.
It seemed his life was only just beginning.
