Also known as: The Little Boat Has Passed the Gates of Hell
Blurb: [Violent, Unrestrained Ghost King Bottom vs. Top with a Ton of Secret Identities]
Top's POV
When Shen Shuo was nineteen, both his parents died. His relatives forcibly bundled him into a bridal sedan and married him to an unknown vengeful ghost in a ghost wedding.
Amid the eerie sound of suona horns, the pale fingers of a red-clad ghost clamped around his throat.
"So you're the one who wants to be this king's bride?"
In that instant, death and suffocation intertwined, and a dazzling, uncanny blood-red filled Shen Shuo's vision.
To his shame, he realized he was excited, excited by the ghost's contemptuous, looking-at-trash gaze, so lofty and untouchable.
Shen Shuo tried to hide the evidence, but the keen-eyed ghost noticed anyway.
The ghost let go in disgust and kicked him into the inferno. "You worthless dog, and you dare covet this king?"
Shen Shuo endured the agony and watched helplessly as the ghost left.
Years later, Shen Shuo, now wielding great power in the Underworld, carefully disguised himself and knocked once more on the long-sealed coffin of the ghost.
Shen Shuo: "Your Highness, you banished the Ghost Queen a hundred years ago."
Jiang, utterly bewildered, Shiwei: "Has he admitted his mistake?"
Shen Shuo: "The Ghost Queen passed the Judge exam and is coming to take you back to the Underworld."
Jiang Shiwei: "...What?"
Bottom's POV
Jiang Shiwei, Ghost King of Yin Mountain, returned after a century of secluded cultivation, only to find that the human he'd personally thrown into the inferno had staged an astonishing comeback.
He was subjected to revenge: his tomb was confiscated, his ghostly energy dissipated, and even his beloved pets were hauled off to the Underworld zoo to perform miserably for a living.
Fortunately, he still had a little ghost by his side, loyal and steadfast, urging him to step into the modern age.
Jiang Shiwei (moved): What a faithful little ghost.
After three failed attempts to sneak into the Underworld with the little ghost, Jiang Shiwei gritted his teeth and chose the only legal route: taking the civil service exam for the Underworld.
After grinding through a hundred thousand practice questions, Jiang Shiwei finally made it to the end.
On his first day reporting for duty as a ghost constable, he hadn't even had the chance to do anything bad yet.
There on the hiring banner, in white letters on a black background, were the words:
"Warmly welcoming the Ghost King of Yin Mountain to our company."
Jiang Shiwei: "???"
Jiang Shiwei after learning the truth: Just you wait, you little brat. I'll beat you to death!
Interview skit:
Underworld: Dear, you failed the qualification review. This position requires a welding certificate.
Jiang Shiwei: ?
Underworld: You also need to have passed College English Test Band 4.
Jiang Shiwei: ??
Underworld: Someone reported you for illegally arranging a ghost marriage.
Jiang Shiwei: ???
Reader's guide:
1. The bottom is not a virgin, but the romance is mutual.
2. All explanations are part of the plot.
3. The top has issues, and the bottom isn't exactly a good ghost either.
4. Both are beautiful. Extreme character partisans, stay away.
5. This is pure alternate-universe fiction, with a whole lot of made-up worldbuilding.
6. The top and bottom will argue over their roles. The one who wins and then comforts the other is the top.
