[Ultraman Mebius/Shingo Sakomizu] Waiting for the Light

*

It took Dongfang Maizi four years to realize she had fallen for her friend.

She waited forty years for the near-light-speed test spacecraft Izanami to return.

Maizi was lying in a rocking chair in the courtyard, basking in the sun, when she looked at the young junior who always came to visit her. She'd heard he worked at the Japanese branch of the New Earth Defense Force.

She smiled and said, "You're here again."

Reader's notes:

* The male lead is not an Ultraman. This is a short story about Captain Sakumi's girlfriend, inspired by a sudden idea.

* Not much research, and many details are made up, such as General Councilor Takenaka's full name.

Theme: A gentle ending for those who chase the light.
