[Encanto] Mr. Bruno Behind the Wall

*

The townspeople of the Valley of Miracles had never imagined that one rainy day, a twelve-year-old child would lose her parents.

The Madrigal family, who had brought miracles to the valley, adopted her because of a secret.

Surrounded by the love and warmth of a big family, the girl gradually came to terms with the pain of her past and stopped crying. Though they shared no blood ties, she became one of the family.

And that lucky girl was me.

But now, I'm secretly feeding Abuela Alma's son, who has been hiding in the walls of her house for nearly ten years, without telling anyone in the family.

Much later, as I happened to look back on some things from those days, I turned and poked the person beside me in the elbow.

“So, Bruno, what was it about me that you liked back then?”

Woken by my questions, Bruno mumbled a couple of words. I watched his face turn red.

“All of you, Manaria.”

Reader advisory:

* This is a taboo uncle-niece romance between people who aren't blood relatives, with a significant age gap. Please take note.

* It's written in first person, but the narrator has a name: Manaria. The Chinese translations of the Madrigal family's names in this story reflect my personal preferences and don't exactly match the official translations. I don't use the original English names because it's too much trouble.
