This story is also known as Blowing at Shadows, Carving Dust, an idiom from Guan Yin Zi, Chapter One: "To speak of it is like blowing at shadows; to think of it is like carving dust."

The title will be changed after the story is complete.

A person appeared in the mirror.

At first, it wasn't human. It was a pitch-black ball of flesh with no features or limbs, but it had a heartbeat.

Then it drew strength from fear, anger, and hatred, slowly growing into a human shape.

Li Chen named it Li Ying.

From the moment it was given a name, it became him.

It had the exact same face as Li Chen, the same likes and dislikes, and knew Li Chen inside and out.

Its arrival turned Li Chen's world upside down.

Li Chen had once despised his own life, but Li Ying opened his eyes to the Three Realms, and the world changed completely.

He saw demons and spirits, saw the past and the present, and understood that everything in the world revolved around two words: cause and effect.

So what was Li Ying?

What cause had brought about this effect, and who had planted that cause, leaving Li Chen to bear the consequences?

A thousand years passed, and Li Chen had long since forgotten those memories of the past.

But Li Ying remembered.

Li Ying remembered everything from beginning to end. He would never forget that a thousand years ago, he was a heart demon cast aside.

This heart demon had a name that inspired terror, yet sounded beautiful:

Narcissus.
